Dr. Franita Joy

Born and raised in India, Dr. Franita Joy earned her dental degree from Rajiv Gandhi University in 2011, graduating with academic distinction. During her studies, she was recognized as the top-performing student in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, reflecting her strong clinical knowledge and commitment to excellence. Today, she brings that same dedication to providing compassionate, high-quality dental care for every patient she treats.

After earning her dental degree, Dr. Joy spent two years practicing as a general dentist in India, where she cared for patients in both private practice and a leading hospital alongside an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team. These early experiences helped build a strong clinical foundation and deepened her passion for comprehensive patient care.

After relocating to the United States, Dr. Joy completed the three-year International Dental Program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree while receiving multiple academic scholarships. During her time at VCU, she was selected to serve as a Senior Teaching Assistant in Removable Prosthodontics, mentoring second-year dental students and helping them develop the essential clinical skills needed for successful dental careers.

Prior to attending dental school in the United States, Dr. Joy worked as a dental assistant for three years and continued to expand her knowledge by shadowing experienced dentists. She is also passionate about giving back to the community and has volunteered her time providing dental care through free clinics, Mission of Mercy events, detention center outreach programs, and international dental missions in Jamaica.

Dr. Joy believes that patient education is one of the most important aspects of dentistry. She enjoys helping patients understand their oral health so they can confidently maintain healthy, beautiful smiles for years to come.

Outside the office, Dr. Joy enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, traveling, and playing games together as a family. In her free time, she also loves cake decorating, cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, and listening to music.
